Nicklas Richards, Vice President - Technology
Nicklas Richards is Vice President of Technology at Purple Land Management. He is responsible for PLM’s systems and software.
A lifelong Ohio resident, husband, and proud father of two, Nicklas graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a minor in Philosophy
He started at PLM in June 2014 specializing in GIS solutions and developing the Overdrive platform. Nicklas has experience driving technical innovation, customer success, and operational growth while collaborating with a diverse range of energy clients.
In 2022, Nicklas joined Document Intelligence (formerly ThoughtTrace, acquired by Thomson Reuters) to support their growth and innovation as Customer Success Operations Manager. In this role, he continued his engagement with energy and land groups and gained intimate knowledge of AI and ML product development and market innovation. Promoted to Product Manager in 2024, he refined his product ownership expertise, excelling at aligning engineering teams with business goals and customer priorities to position the product for sustained success.
Nick returned to PLM in 2025, to lead technology-forward operations with deep expertise in technical and process architecture, data management, and the operational needs of land and energy users. He is renowned for translating complex systems into clear, actionable insights and operational efficiencies for audiences from engineers to key stakeholders and management leaders, and is committed to driving PLM’s strategic growth and platform innovation.
